Happy Holidays! From Mother.

Above is what Mother London sent out as a Christmas greeting this year. All I can say is what a brilliantly simple way to spread the “true” meaning of Christmas. Well done.

Kristianna banana

I love stumbling upon art. Today I visited Beiruts site to see what’s new and scope new music. At the bottom of the page I noticed a link to what I assumed was the person responsible for his site. I assumed correctly. Kristanna Banana. Not only is Kristianna a good designer but also quite the photographer. In fact her photography caught me by surprise. I love the innocence and rawness in these photos. I have posted a couple examples but I highly recommend taking some time to view the rest.Enjoy

Happy Smoking

Why not give the gift that keeps on giving this holiday season. 200 tasty toasted treats for that smoker in your life.

I love vintage ads.

Blitzen

The self-proclaimed “#1 reindeer in the world” has a message for Santa Claus.

Enjoy.

Wagon viewing

Let me first start by saying that the above video was made just for fun. I am not disclaiming anything but that should help me make a point later on. Second I would like to give my friend Matt Johnston a big shout out. For having absolutely no training or experience in film or editing, he has put together a pretty kick ass little short!

The above video “wagon attack II” Gained just over 80,000 views in a week. Pretty good huh?

From a marketing standpoint I feel that Wagon Attack II succeeded in a couple of ways:
1. Clear Target Market – Whether or not Matt took this into consideration when making the video he succeeded in appealing to a niche market.
2. A distribution plan – By engaging certain key people and posting on key Target market rich forums Matt made sure that this video was being seen by the right people who in turn pass it on to their readers/followers.

I am sure that the above points were happened upon. I wouldn’t expect Matt to think about this video from a marketing POV. He just wanted to have fun and make a really cool movie. My point here is to stress the importance of a well thought out strategy. A little pre-planning goes a long way. Its about being proactive and less reactionary.

Nice work Matt! It is truly a fun video to watch.

Paper goodness

I’ve been a huge fan of paper art for quite some time but this video takes it to a whole new level. Really awesome work! Kudos to the New Zealand Book Council

Modea Holiday Card

Who Knew Santa carried an iPhone? This is a really cool Holiday Card from Modea. I love the attention to detail and the social integration. Like the naughty or nice app that connects to your facebook account and lets you know which one of your friends will be enjoying Christmas this year.

Just a fun site to explore. Nicely done Modea!

I just want to say I love this spot. It is beautifully done. More importantly This spot makes me want to do something I have never wanted to do in my adult life. Buy a pair of Levi Jeans. Not because I think it will make me more American or I should say make me feel patriotic. It won’t. But this campaign makes me feel american in a way that I feel comfortable being an american. This campaign says that it is alright to not like baseball, believe in global warming and dare I say not support a war. It tells me that America is full of individuals. People who aren’t afraid to speak up.

I know this sounds extremely deep and maybe it is. But that is why I think that this campaign is successful. It sells me on an idea, a lifestyle and for a hot second I am converted to Levi guy. With that said that campaign did not convert me into a sale but i did think about it.
